Reunited together we will be

Persian rhyme

Did you know? The different genres of Persian poetry generally correspond to specific forms: the qasida (ode), a long mono-rhyme, for panegyrics; the ghazal, a shorter mono-rhyme of about seven to fourteen lines, for lyrics; the mathnavi or couplet, for narrative themes; the roba’i or quatrain for epigrammatic poems.

The rhyme above is based on the ‘ghazal’. What is a mono-rhyme again? In a monorhyme, all the lines in a stanza or entire poem end with the same rhyme.

Ok so far, this is all about the form. But content-wise we know the romantic wording of #Hafiz aswell as the 13th century #Rumi. The sentiments expressed include themes of the human need for joy, love and unrequited love, humanity, philosophy related to wisdom, introspection, the meaning and the inherent angst of life, the beauty of the natural world, and more and more.
